1000D Nylon Chicken Tex Supreme

Chicken Tex Supreme is a 1000D nylon fabric specially made for Crumpler. It is used as the main material for many of our bags. The yarn count is expressed as a denier (D) and determines the fineness of the fabric. 1000D means: 9000m of this fibre weighs 1000g or a 9km long fibre weighs 1kg. The higher the number before the D, the heavier the fibre or yarn. A 1000 denier fabric is therefore very robust.

The special and unmistakable characteristics of our Chicken Tex Supreme are the woven-in two-tone effect and the elegant lustre of the surface.

As is usual with functional clothing, all Crumpler nylon bags are pre-impregnated. However, this protection does not last forever, so you should regularly check whether the waterproofing is still intact. If water no longer runs off the bag, it's time to renew the waterproofing with a commercially available PFC-free textile waterproofing spray.

To clean, please only wipe with a damp cloth. Please do not wash in the washing machine!

02

100% Recycled 1000D Nylon

Our 1000D nylon is made from 100% recycled pre-consumer nylon, which is collected as textile and yarn waste. It is a 1000 denier and very tightly woven for maximum strength. The most important properties of the fabric include:

• Excellent strength and durability
• High tear and abrasion resistance
• High pilling resistance

The material is pre-impregnated PFC-free and is therefore water-repellent and environmentally friendly. The impregnation is applied to the front after dyeing and before the drying process.

But of course this protection doesn't last forever, so you should check regularly whether the waterproofing is still intact.

If the water no longer runs off the bag, it is time to renew the waterproofing with a commercially available PFC-free textile waterproofing spray.

To clean, please only wipe with a damp cloth.

Please do not wash in the washing machine.

03

400D nylon

Our 400D nylon is custom-made for Crumpler and is used as the primary material for some of our bags and backpacks. The “D” stands for “Denier”. Denier is simply a unit of measurement that describes the linear mass density of a particular material. It is calculated based on the mass in grams of a single 9,000 meter long fiber. Therefore, a 9000 meter long fiber weighs approximately 1 gram. 1 denier = 1 g / 9000 m.

The fabric features

  • excellent balance between weight and durability combined
  • with high abrasion resistance
  • water resistance
  • and tear resistance

All Crumpler nylon bags are pre-impregnated.

04

Ripstop nylon

Ripstop refers to a fabric that is particularly tear-resistant.

The thin 210T or 330D nylon fabric is interspersed with a thicker thread every few millimetres, which prevents further tearing in the event of minor damage to the fabric.

We like to use our tear-resistant ripstop nylon as a lining fabric in bags and backpacks as well as in luggage due to its lightness and durability.

The water-repellent coating prevents liquid spillages from penetrating the fabric.

To clean, please only wipe with a damp cloth.

Please do not wash in the washing machine!

05

100% recycled ripstop polyester

Most of our products are equipped with a water-repellent inner lining.

The lining is made from 100% recycled 150D or 300D ripstop polyester, which is obtained from post-consumer waste.

The higher the number in front of the D, the heavier the fibre or yarn. The thin fabric is interspersed with a thicker thread every few millimetres, which prevents further tearing in the event of minor damage to the fabric.

The fabric is manufactured with a water-repellent eco finish without the use of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFC).

To clean, please wipe with a damp cloth only.

Please do not wash in the washing machine!

06

150D ripstop polyester

Most of our products are equipped with a water-repellent inner lining.

The lining is made of 150D ripstop polyester. The higher the number in front of the D, the heavier the fibre or yarn. The thin fabric is interspersed with a thicker thread every few millimetres to prevent further tearing in the event of minor damage to the fabric. The fabric is finished with a water-repellent coating.

07

100% rPET 900D polyester

rPET is a polyester material that is made from recycled PET bottles and reused for both textiles and bags.

  • Bags made from PET yarn are characterised by a strikingly structured and soft surface.
  • PET is also a hard-wearing, water and dirt-repellent material.

The use of recycled PET is particularly suitable for outdoor bags and, as is usual with functional clothing, all Crumpler polyester bags are pre-impregnated. This makes the bag weatherproof (water-repellent) for the first time. Not only can water no longer penetrate the interior, but various types of dirt can also no longer settle in the fabric.

However, this protection does not last forever, so you should regularly check whether the waterproofing is still intact. If water no longer runs off the bag, it is time to renew the waterproofing with a commercially available PFC-free textile waterproofing spray.

To clean, please only wipe with a damp cloth.

Please do not wash in the washing machine!

08

100% Recycled Retro Reflective

The retro-reflective material is a 100% DMF-free reflective film made from recycled polyester fleece, which has been certified in accordance with the GRS (Global Recycled Standard).

Retro-reflective means that a large proportion of the reflected light is returned directly to the original light source and the bags and backpacks with reflective details are visible from a distance of up to 150 metres.

Due to its excellent abrasion resistance, the material is also often used for sports shoes.

To clean, please only wipe with a damp cloth.

Please do not wash in the washing machine!

09

Neoprene

Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that is known as a material for diving suits. Due to its excellent insulating properties as well as its softness and elasticity, we like to use our high-quality neoprene for laptop sleeves and grip padding, while durability and water resistance are also among the positive properties of neoprene.

Our neoprene consists of a very high-quality and extremely dense neoprene core and is laminated with tear-resistant nylon jersey and has a water-repellent finish with the "Moses effect".

Our neoprene can be cleaned by gently washing by hand with a soft cloth or sponge. Mild soapy water, washing-up liquid or a mild shampoo will help to remove larger soiling. For heavier soiling, have it dry-cleaned.

Do not machine wash and renew the impregnation from time to time with a commercially available PFC-free impregnation spray.

10

Plastic coated fabric / tarpaulin

Plastic-coated fabric, often colloquially referred to as tarpaulin, is a textile whose base material (usually a recycled polyester) has been coated on one or both sides. The material is very durable and waterproof on at least one side.

Due to its very good abrasion values, we like to use the material as bottom protection or as weatherproof bag flaps.

To clean, please only wipe with a damp cloth.

Commercially available cockpit or plastic care products are suitable as care products, as well as good old floor wax for shiny surfaces.

Please do not wash in the washing machine.

11

Coated 600D polyester

Our water-repellent 600D polyester fabric has a matt PU coating and is therefore extremely durable and very easy to care for.

To clean, please only wipe with mild soapy water and a damp cloth. Commercially available cockpit or plastic care products are suitable as care products.

Please do not wash in the washing machine.

12

300D Oxford polyester

Our 300D Oxford Polyester is a fabric specially made for Crumpler and is used as the main material for some of our bags, backpacks and accessories.

The fabric is characterised by its

  • textile matt appearance
  • a characteristic two-tone colour (linen look)
  • and an excellent balance between weight and durability

All Crumpler bags and backpacks are pre-impregnated.

13

Waterproof zipper

Our high-quality waterproof zippers are a little more difficult to move than conventional zippers and therefore need to be cared for from time to time.

To ensure that the sealing lips retain their elasticity and continue to protect against dust, moisture, salt, corrosion and UV radiation, we recommend a commercially available lubricant and care product as a liquid to be applied or as a care stick, e.g. “Zipper Stick” from Gearaid.

Regular use extends the life of the zippers!
